πΊπ³ Happy Ground at the United Nations
[May 23, 2024 - Bangkok] Itβs not every day that you get to pitch your business at the United Nationsβbut thatβs exactly what Happy Ground had the honor of doing at the Impact Harvest event, a global gathering focused on inclusive business and impact investment.
This moment was a significant milestone for us, as it marked a key opportunity to showcase our vision for regenerative agriculture and climate-smart solutionsβand to discuss how inclusive business can be a powerful vehicle for addressing both climate change and economic disparity.
What is Impact Harvest?
The Impact Harvest event brought together global leaders, investors, and innovators from the inclusive business and impact investment ecosystems to explore how we can address the worldβs biggest challengesβsocioeconomic inequality, climate change, and food insecurityβthrough inclusive, sustainable business models.
At its core, inclusive business (IB) is about creating value for everyone, particularly the low-income communities that are often left out of traditional business models. It means building solutions that create economic opportunity while fostering environmental sustainability.
This event, with its focus on impact, gave us the perfect platform to highlight how Happy Ground is building a business model that doesnβt just focus on profit but on creating lasting change for the communities we serve.
Pitching at the United Nations: Sharing Our Vision for Climate-Smart Solutions
For me, getting the chance to pitch at the United Nations was a momentous occasionβnot only because of the location but because it gave me the opportunity to share Happy Groundβs transformative journey with the world.
During the pitch, I shared how weβre using biochar and regenerative agricultural practices to help smallholder farmers in Southeast Asia:
Restore soil health
Improve water retention
Reduce the impact of agricultural burning
Drive carbon sequestration
Our approach isnβt just about climate actionβitβs about making sure that smallholder farmers, who are often the most vulnerable to climate change, have access to the tools, training, and capital they need to adapt and thrive.
βPitching at the Impact Harvest event was not just a moment to showcase Happy Groundβs work, but to reflect on how weβre shaping a business model that connects climate resilience with economic empowerment,β said Moh Suthasiny, co-founder of Happy Ground. βIt was a proud moment to share our vision on a global stage, with so many other incredible changemakers.β
A Shared Focus on Creating Lasting Impact
One of the most inspiring aspects of the Impact Harvest event was hearing from other leaders in impact business. It was an opportunity to learn from people and organizations working on solutions to social and environmental challengesβsolutions that are making a real difference.
From innovative financing models to community-driven growth, the insights shared by the speakers and panelists reinforced the idea that sustainable solutions are not only possible but already being implemented on the ground. Inclusive business is not a trendβit is a pathway to long-term positive change.
The conversations and connections we made during the event reaffirmed that business has a critical role to play in building a more equitable and sustainable world. At Happy Ground, weβre proud to be part of this movement.
Whatβs Next for Happy Ground?
Our pitch at the United Nations is just the beginning. The opportunity to connect with global investors, impact partners, and ecosystem builders has opened up new pathways for scaling Happy Ground and expanding our impact across Southeast Asia.
Weβre excited to continue building on the momentum from the event and exploring new partnerships, funding opportunities, and innovative collaborations that will help us further our mission of empowering farmers and driving climate solutions at scale.
The Inclusive Business model is one that we are fully committed to, as we know that true success is measured not just by financial returns, but by how much we can uplift communities and create shared value for all.
